FENSA

FENSA stands for the Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme. The scheme was set up by the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF), at the request of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister to ensure compliance with the current Building Regulations for England and Wales following changes in 2001.

All replacement glazing in homes since 2001 now comes within the scope of the Building Regulations in order to comply with current thermal performance standards.  If an installation of windows and doors is undertaken by a non-FENSA registered company then it must instead be given approval by local authority Building Control in the same way as other home improvements such as extensions.

FENSA registered installers are able to give the necessary approval to an installation.  FENSA installers are carefully scrutinised under the scheme to ensure they offer approved products that are installed to a set standard.  An periodic inspection process ensure continued compliance.  Just Windows and Doors has been a FENSA installer since the scheme's inception.
